Week 20: (Corrected) What Happened to the Tank

We passed by the house today (as we always do that it seemed our trek is like a pilgrimage to the new house lol).  Unfortunately not much has been done inside the house from the last time we had a peeped, but a quick email to BW to inquire and they have assured us that of the schedule of things to come.
The only thing that we are concerned about is our water tank which took the brunt of a 49kph freak wind gust a couple of weeks ago.  It was good that they were delivered early but unfortunately their being efficient for delivering the goods ahead of time proved to be an expensive exercise.

It may not look like this is damaged but look further...

Have a look as the dents ...

Some of the scratches and dents are forming rust all over already

Despite all the dings and dents and rust, why would our plumber think this is acceptable and put the pipes in it?

With a big fall like that, it is definitive that there would be damage and we are not taking this in that condition, but our communication with BW gave us the assurance that it will be changed.

Not much to report this week but hoping that we have more to report next week.

NOTE: You might wonder why the title had (Corrected) in it.  Looks like we have been counting wrong so despite it being late in the build, I will have it corrected.

Thanks for dropping by and see you in our next post.

Week 20: Getting back the Grove!

Week 20: It is much much better than last week's menial progress... still NO communication from our darling Customer Representative so Wednesday I had no choice but to email head office to express my dissatisfaction about their communication and I am glad that someone answered me immediately that day.
They said that tilers will finish by the end of this week as I was informed that our wall tiles for our ensuite were on back order for two weeks (why cant my darling CR just say this to us - its not hard). Today, I was so happy to see these progress.
Have a look at these photos and apologies as they were not great as it was taken from outside from a closed glass window as everything is truly locked lol... Second coat of paint done too to all walls and doors and all tiles are all in (even grouted lol). Tiles on the patio is also finished and grouted. I am excited for what else to come but for now I am enjoying what I am seeing ....

Downpipes are all painted

I am already in love with my laundry floor which is also our main tiles all over the house - a wood look tiles called Heartwood Eucalypt

Part of our meal area

Excited to use this kitchen and finally a walk-in pantry

That is all that I can see of the main bathroom but the bath is not in yet

Week 19: What's Happening?!?!

This week is the slowest progress we've ever seen in our build and it begs the question WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!?
All that happened this week was a lousy one coat of paint to all doors and walls, everything else is the same from last week.  I am feeling deflated seeing that days are being wasted and we can't see anything substantial that is moving along.
NOT HAPPY is an understatement right now... bring back our former SS Kurt who worked like lighting.
What made it even more stressful is the fact that for some unknown reason, what used to be a great communication between our Customer Rep and ourselves have suddenly deteriorated to nothing.  Her last email was on 09.08.2017 with her last word being - “If I can’t get an update from <SS> I will approach the Construction Manager tomorrow to obtain whatever he can that I can use for updates.”  .
Sadly to date of this writing, there was no communication from her.
I will try to give her next week as updates are given every Wednesday so here's hoping that come next week there is something positive that we can look forward to or at least we can see that something is being made.
Meanwhile, get depressed with me with all these menial progress :(

Wardrobe doors now has their first coat of paint

Internal doors also have received their first lick of paint

All the three room's wardrobe was also painted inside and out

The theatre room painted

The front door has the primer paint put on... i hope they dont forget that its white on the inside and red on the outside

Our masters painted and internal door to the walk in robe and ensuite door also painted

Yesterday we experienced a very strong gust of wind of around 49kpm and this was enough to knock the 3000L water tank and we are definite that it did some damage to it... that needs to be replaced and colour is wrong too - we ordered for a Monument water tank and not a Paper Bark

This is it for now ... here's hoping for a better updates next week :(

Window Roller Blinds for the Kids' Room Ordered

Although we have delegated Cobbity Blinds to look after all our window furnishings for our new home, there were two blinds that they have confirmed that they cannot do.  You see, I want the kids' windows to be different - with colours and prints  - something vibrant and something that they chose themselves as I want them to be involved in our build as well.
In our initial consultation with Gerdina from Cobbity Blinds, we were shown some printed materials that they can convert into roller blinds.  I have allowed the kids to choose (of course it is still us on the last say) but unfortunately she came back to me through email stating that she was informed that all materials with prints were no longer offered and that we are free too seek other supplier for it.
That's when I went back to my original supplier online  - BlindsOnline.
Here were the kids' choices.

This was Hannah's roller blind called Enchanted Forest. A predominately pink and white blinds for such a girly girl like her.

This was Zechariah's choice called Brix Cool Green which is predominantly teal and white and some grey into it.

I have finalised it this morning and all paid for and should be delivered by the 28th of August.  Yep, it will only take 2 weeks and it should be here by then.  This would be my first online purchase of an item like this.  Normally, I am the type who wants to see it and touch it and feel it when it comes to things that I buy but I have been persuaded by the countless positive reviews about this supplier that I went ahead and done it.
I cannot complain about the price either.  The kid's window measures 1150 (w) by 1191 (d) only costs us around $160 each and with free delivery.  Installation isn't that hard either (hopefully MrK is up to this challenge lol)

That is it for now and thanks for dropping by.  See you in the next post :)

Week 18: Stale Mate!

This week was not a happy one for our build... for the longest time it was doing well until we were told that our previous SS left and we were assigned a new one.  The initial meetup went well with MrK and the new SS Cameron.  It was a productive meeting.  MrK informed him if our concerns, he took notes and have assured us it will be taken cared of, meanwhile there was some thing that he mentioned that we might have overlooked had he not pointed it out, which was assuring on our part as we then realised that he was meticulous to details.
We thought that the changeover will not have a grave impact on our build and would just be more of administration changes ...
Well, when I emailed our Customer Rep from Beechwood, I was informed that our SS has been selected for a jury duty for 14 days.  Great, he was doing his part as a responsible citizen - commendable... but at the expense of our build???? And it doesn't help that our CR will have to chase him up for updates so she can then update us.
For the whole week this week there was literally no progress.
When MrK was talking to SS Cameron there were tradies on site doing the tiles and the following day when we went they were there finishing up on things.
When we tried going this week - not any significant progress has happened... well, if putting the laundry sink in its place was considered progress then I'll give you a point there.
The tiles were laid but no grouting yet on all of them.
The main bathroom has wall tiles but I think the tiler ran out of tiles as the other side (near the door) was not even tiled to the level where they should be ... on a positive note though, they were able to put the feature mosaic tiles on the main bathroom but again no grout on them all.
I am brushing this aside, taking a deep breath and  hoping that week 19 would be a better one...

Thanks for dropping by and see you again in our next post.

Week 17: Shelved & Tiled Up

Time flies, we're already in week 17 and getting closer to a target finish time of week 24.  There have been heaps of things that's been happening in house thirtyseven this week.  Last Tuesday, we just have to have a peek even if we're locked out and this is what we've found... walk in pantry has shelves so does all the build-in wardrobes in all other rooms as well as our walk-in robe. Our vanity was also set in place...this stage is making me so impatient!

Yesterday, MrK met up with our new SS (Site Supervisor) Cameron since our last walk through has been awhile and with our former SS Kurt.  We just wish to touch base with minor things that we have raised previously and during the time that they allowed us to transfer the bricks, it gave us the chance to see a few other things that we want to seek their opinion about.

Today (Saturday), we passed by the house again just to see the progress and was delighted to see our tilers very hard at work. They have tiled the laundry and finished the kitchen splashback. One of the guys were busy finishing our patio (front) while the other was finishing our ensuite. The main bathroom floor was finished and is awaiting to do the charcoal wall...the laundry tiles as well as the walk in pantry are the same in the whole house to have a continuity...

Patio's (front entry) tile is a 450x450 Belga Charcoal Textured

Ensuite floor is Belga Charcoal 300x300, Wall will be Valencia Stone White Gloss 200x400

Our laundry floor tiles will be the same as the whole house and walk in pantry so there is a good flow all throughout.  We selected Heartwood tiles in Eucalypt in 300x600- which has a wood look to it but is a good hardy porcelain tiles,

The main bath has also had tiles in them. We selected Valencia Stone White 300x300 textured for the floor with Euphoria Charcoal 200x400 gloss for the wall - which is the opposite of our ensuite

Our splashback is also on now.  We chose Valencia Stone Grey Gloss 200x400 in keeping with our grey and white theme.  We even paid extra to have the grout the same colour as the tiles.  Grout will be Magellan Grey to complement the Tornado Quantum Quartz stone benchtops.

To compliment the laundry floor which has a grey tinge, we are using Classic Carrara White 200x400 tiles

We are the third house from the start of the street but I am glad that though our next door neighbour has the same bricks, their roof and their rendered pillars are different colours than us ... it will be a nice place to live in as more and more houses are being added to this estate.

This is it so far... thanks for dropping by and see you in the next post.
