Inspiration: Master Bedroom Light

Another  mental  notes coming up, this time for our master's bedroom... I am hoping that by blogging that ideas that that I come across, that it will serve as my inspiration that can perhaps become a reality to our  bedroom light ...
At the moment I am liking the idea of a drum pendant in our bedroom and I have come across the designs that I wish to have ...

This will be in the middle of the room and then we will also have table lamp on our side table as both MrK and I love to read ... again this being just an inspiration, there might be another idea that comes along so while we're waiting for our build so we'll wait and see ...
So, see you in our next post :)

Inspiration: Landscaping

Just having  some mental  notes.  We finished our last face to face meeting with Howard from BW today just to tie loose ends and he will get us the final tender by Thursday this week as people in the office are just apparently too inundated with jobs but Howie assured us that the info (money matters) will be finalise by this week just to see how our variations fare with our finances.

So while waiting for those information to come through, I though I'd make more mental notes on how we will tackle our landscaping, particularly the side of the house  as well as some ideas on how we  will do our driveway...
Here are some ideas ... stencilled, aggregate concrete or just maybe just plain....

Our new home unfortunately will not have the same big and wide backyard that we are used to with the house that we have now so everything will be at its minimal.
I have found two possible things that we can do with that tiny backyard but still feel abit cosy...
Our backyard backs an acoustic fence (as we are near a major through fare)

...and knowing me, I don't think I can stand a backyard without any plant or greenery so will definitely use whatever space we have to do some gardening.

I have designated MrK to take care of the side of the house landscaping so I think we both agree a no fuss design so we are just putting some nice thick concrete tiles to walk on then pebble all over ... nice and easy.

That's it for now... We'll see in our next post :)

Beechwood Homes Meeting

We had a great and productive meeting with Howard from Beechwood from their Camden North office today.  He went through our plans in details and I took the opportunity to ask as much questions as I can (did some researching and have collected quite a few).

One of the things that we discussed was the timber posts in the terrazza.

We want to have a brick post like this rather than the timber posts but as usual as soon as they hear change then $$$ comes up too. So once a new tender is made and we can accommodate this change financial wise then we will go ahead with this for sure.
Another things we have changed is the size of the wardrobe for all the other three rooms.  We used to have 1200mm but we decided to extend it abit to 1800mm but still double doors.

Another thing that we changed was our sliding door leading outside to the terrazza.  It was originally sized at 1900mm but we want more natural light to come in so we have asked them to extend the glass to 2800mm and to have the movable door in the middle instead of the side.  Again hoping that they won't charge too much $$$ on this.

Also, currently in the plan we have a 22 degrees roof pitch and since we have plans to put solar panels in the future, we have changed it to 26 degrees, Again another $$$ added to the ever growing bill... haaaay if only we can just keep adding without thinking of the cost.

Another thing that we asked them to adjust was the fridge cavity. Seeing that we have a side by side fridge with a width of  910mm and intending to upgrade in the future and most fridges nowadays are wide, we requested the cavity to be 960mm wide and to also add a water line so we can again use our water and ice maker in our fridge.

Retaining walls and the cut and fill was also something that hubby and Howard talked about but I shut off since I did not understand a word they were talking about. I have delegated hubby with regards to outside including driveway and landscaping so I'm leaving this conversation with them too.
See you in our next post.

Plans Are In

Finally, our extensive  house plans  have been emailed us last night.  I printed it in regular A4  size but wanting to get to every particulars, I thought printing it on an 11x17 size so I can see all  the details.  MrK  said  Helen from BW called when I was at work (doing a lot  of overtime lately to save up for our upcoming build)... I have collated a few inquiries for tomorrow's meet up.
At least its slowly moving now ...

See you in our next post ....

Just visiting ..

We decided to visit our land today while still waiting for our builder Beechwood Homes to get back to us with our final construction plan.  Here was what we've seen today ...

As you approach, there are a lot of signs for this estate ... Took this one in particular as this sign sits on our property - I mean behind that acoustic wall is our land.

The street sign as we approach our street... Yes, we are in Dowie Drive (now I wonder how you say that - is it like dough-ee or daw-ee drive)

The grass is getting higher and I have delegated MrK to have this  done before the builder comes in.

My little man just discovered that four of our future next door neighbours on our right is  not there anymore ... I mean their SOLD sign is not in their lot number anymore.  I hope its not those vandals that ripped it out ... In the upside (according to MrK) when we start building, our builders have great space access to do our property and even concreting will not be hard as they can drive over to the other side of the property as there is no building going.

No action all around ... looks like it will be busy by the new year.  I have befriended someone who is building in the builder's block and she said they have received their construction commencement date being 31 January 2017

What's good about where we are is that we are a stone's throw away from the park (two houses away to be exact)

Driving away from our property now ... see you later 1044 or #37

Not much to report ... I contacted our builder yesterday and Howie said that Helen will contact me tomorrow just to update me on our final plan.  Hope they hurry up soon.
See you in our next post :)

Land Settlement

Image result for land sold

Just a quick update, yesterday 07.11.2016 at 4.30pm  Lot 1044 (No 37) Dowie Drive, Hillcroft (Claymore) NSW 2559  is now legally ours after we had the settlement attended by our legal representative in the LandCom office as I was at work and MrK was somewhere else.
It was one of the best feeling ever, knowing that every dollar that we contributed (together with the bank loan of course) to get our first land was from our sweat and perseverance.
Now, its the build that we are awaiting on ... c'mon Beechwood Homes hurry up with our house plan/contract now as the bank is itching to pay you or we are dying to start the process lol.

That's all for now and see you in our next post.

Let's Think Colours

Today, I decided to tug along the family after getting the kids from school and head to our nearest Bunnings just to see some colours ... And since Beechwood has Taubmans Paint as their supplier, I thought before our Colour Selection Appointment comes up, we might as well do our own research ... Here was what happened today ...

MrK busy and condfused ,,,

Even the kids started to become decision makers lol

Some of the stuff that I was able to grab as part of my reference to our internal colours

Some of the shades that we are considering ... the screen colour is not doing justice to the real colours

Told the kids that they can choose their room colour and these are what Zechy came up with ... a tinge of blue green for him.

And these are Hannah's picks --- of course in the shade of pink for her

Some of the other grays that we are looking at ...

If there is one thing that I am already sure of, is that we are using Crisp White (top left) in all our internal framings including the cornices and door frames - could even be the internal doors.

That is it for now... again another mental notes that I am trying to remember so I am blogging it :)
See you in the next post.

Sign Here...

After 3 attempts by our broker to send what seemed to be a tree worth of papers to sign, we finally received the documents that made me and MrK practice our signature for over a dozen times...
This is it and finally happening.  Documents fully signed, we have accepted the bank's offer (eg home loan money borrowed) and we have signed our working life away hahaha.
This is it!  Today is the signed day!

Inspiration: Splashback

Here's another mental note for me in regards to our splashbacks ... We are sticking to the standard ones - nothing fancy at all but of what I heard (as we have not attended our Colour Selection Appointment yet) they offer subway tiles and that is good enough for me ...
Here are some of my visual reminders...

That is it for now ... see you in our next post :)
