Week 7: Roof Tiles are Here

Our roof tiles arrived late Thursday arvo according to MrK who passed by the land Friday morning after bringing the kids to school.
We are so excited to see this Classic Style Coal Roof Tiles.
We have chosen this a couple of months ago (October 2016) from a brochure and from a wall in a display warehouse but seeing this in actuality is just exciting (yes I know its abit shallow but any first time home builder sure shares my sentiment here).

We decided for this flat profile rather that the usual groove type style because MrK thinks its sexy while I had a better adjective for it stating its more sleek and contemporary.

Thanks neighbour for still not building as we are using your land for the time being to store our loots lol

Here's my first look at our Coal roof tiles that we chose seven months ago

Endless supply of roof tiles... I'm sooo happy

What are you thinking MrK? We both chose and agreed on the roof tiles so no backing out now lol

The terrazza is slowly taking shape and is also bricked already... I am definite we will love this space

This is how the roof tiles should look like once finished
MrK and I are just so happy with the way the construction is progressing.  We are hoping to give you more update for next week.
Thank you for dropping by and see you in the next post.

Week 7: Bricks and Steel

Its Thursday and I had a late shift at work but MrK updated me that our house is abuzz with brickies and snapped this photo for me.  Isn't he such a charmer.  He knows that I update my blog every now and then and I needed some photos to update it.

Right side is our garage and the window on the left will be our theatre room

Bedroom 3
And look, our windows were also installed all over the house.
I'm so happy that there is no idle week for us... full steam ahead and hopefully the roof tiles will be delivered soon.
Thanks for dropping by and see you in our next post.

Week 7: Surprise Delivery

Tuesday and the early part of week 7 and after work, I casually just passed by our little parcel of dream and look what I found.  Our bricks were delivered!  I cant believe how someone (like me) can be so excited about a few tons of small rectangular block typically made of fired or sun-dried clay aka bricks.  Here comes our chosen ones - the Blackbutt.

Looking forward to when they start laying them up.
Thanks for dropping by and see you in the next post.

Week 6: Raise the Roof

Towards the end of week 6 (Thursday to be exact), we have the roof up... great fast job guys.
We're stoked.  Here are some photos that I took when I pass by the land after work and then a few more from MrK in the morning before the rain came down in the afternoon.

Thank you for dropping by and joining us.  See you in the next post.

Week 6: We've been Framed!

After work, I took the chance to drop by our little parcel of land to see what is happening.
Guess some people have been busy today as it wasn't like this yesterday.
The frames are up and I can walk through and pretty much know what the rooms are.
it is slowly becoming real now.
Perhaps tomorrow the roof trusses will come up as it is the only ones left on the side of the property.
Let me take you for a tour... commencing from the front of the house then to the hallway the passing by the theatre room before we end up to see the open plan living that has our eating area on the right then the living room on the left ... and end up to a great view to the terrazza that we will never get tired to look at every night.

I pulled up in front of the property and this was what I saw

the front part of the house

looking from the bottom of the garden looking up the terrazza

welcome to our home... this is our entrance/hallway (right side is the master's)

Hello future theatre room... you will definitely be loved

this is the reason why we like this plan -- the open space

this is what you see standing in the corner of what will be our lounge area..
near that plank of wood on the floor will be our  stone benchtop

standing in them middle of the terrazza looking in...im glad we extended our sliding door

I can imagine numerous nights with MrK and I having coffee and enjoying the sunset ... seriously who will get tired looking at these ...

Thank you for joining us and see you in our next post.

Week 5: Cured and ready...

Just a week and a half after the concrete was poured, I was amazed at what the deliveries showed up in our land today.  Coming home after an overtime, I pass by the estate and these were the sights that I was given.  Our Service Officer did mention that frames will be up by next week but I thought deliveries will be next week in time for erecting the frames.
So happy to see the progress.

Deliveries for today ... that's a whole lot of timber frames

Thanks future neighbour, we kindda used your land to put our roof trusses but it will be gone by Monday for sure

Another House Purchase

I made another small purchase for ThirtySeven today.
This red drum pendant light will definitely compliment our red entrance door (that I mentioned in my previous post) .
This will be the first thing that you will see when you open the front door... for some reason MrK is not convinced that it will look nice, I guess he has to wait until we move and this gets put in.  I like it, I like it a lot.

I wanted to get more but I guess I have to wait until we move otherwise there  will be more to transfer to the new house.  Our monster 14kg washing machine was already here for a week now as the other one was nearing to its last breath so that's another thing that we need to bring to the new house.   Looking forward to new things that we will get but will do it slowly as MrK had to remind me lol.
Thanks for visiting us and see you in the next post.

Week 4: Slab it to me baby

Metal mesh down and laid, forms have been set... pouring of the slab will be happening soon...
More pics as soon as MrK visits the land again :)

Very happy that our builder Beechwood Homes and their slab inclusion which comes within the base price...
CONCRETE SLAB FEATURES •  Designed for an ‘S’, ‘M’ or ‘H’ classification to comply with AS2870 •  Concrete slab living area  floor level minimum is 300mm above ground level •  The edge beam of the slab is rebated to provide 3 courses of brickwork in lieu of normally used 2 courses, therefore eliminating the exposure of 150mm (6”) of concrete around the perimeter of your house •  The Beechwood concrete slab has no polystyrene infill panels built into it. It is a fully reinforced concrete slab foundation designed by a qualified structural engineer

One of the things that we noted with most of the builders around the estate (various builders not just a specific one) was the use of that white thingy or that polystyrene infill panels. We have learned that this type of construction may be fast and cheap in terms of building but poses a lot of risk in the integrity of the structure.  So overall we are very happy with the slab that our builder will be putting in there that will last for heaps of generation to come.

Thanks for dropping by and more updates as it comes.

Today, the concrete slab was poured.... so the waiting game begins while the concrete cures...
