We had a great and productive meeting with Howard from Beechwood from their Camden North office today. He went through our plans in details and I took the opportunity to ask as much questions as I can (did some researching and have collected quite a few).
One of the things that we discussed was the timber posts in the terrazza.
We want to have a brick post like this rather than the timber posts but as usual as soon as they hear change then $$$ comes up too. So once a new tender is made and we can accommodate this change financial wise then we will go ahead with this for sure.
Another things we have changed is the size of the wardrobe for all the other three rooms. We used to have 1200mm but we decided to extend it abit to 1800mm but still double doors.
Another thing that we changed was our sliding door leading outside to the terrazza. It was originally sized at 1900mm but we want more natural light to come in so we have asked them to extend the glass to 2800mm and to have the movable door in the middle instead of the side. Again hoping that they won't charge too much $$$ on this.
Also, currently in the plan we have a 22 degrees roof pitch and since we have plans to put solar panels in the future, we have changed it to 26 degrees, Again another $$$ added to the ever growing bill... haaaay if only we can just keep adding without thinking of the cost.
Another thing that we asked them to adjust was the fridge cavity. Seeing that we have a side by side fridge with a width of 910mm and intending to upgrade in the future and most fridges nowadays are wide, we requested the cavity to be 960mm wide and to also add a water line so we can again use our water and ice maker in our fridge.
Retaining walls and the cut and fill was also something that hubby and Howard talked about but I shut off since I did not understand a word they were talking about. I have delegated hubby with regards to outside including driveway and landscaping so I'm leaving this conversation with them too.
See you in our next post.

Just reading through your blog and noticed your thoughts on a steeper roof - 2 things here.
ReplyDeletePlumbers don't like steep roofs as they are too hard to walk on - they slip and I would expect this will be reflected in the cost. I have put in a large off grid solar system and he answer to every question to the system planner/installer was put in more panels. My roof is at 10 deg and rather than raise the panel angle it was cheaper to put in more panels. Have some panels facing west and east as well as north? Nope - put in more panels. Panels are cheap now thanks to Chinese overproduction.
Thanks so much for your input. After our last tender and questioning a few expenses that we were not informed, decided not to touch the roof pitch and it's staying at 22°. There's not much to report so the blog stalled abit. As soon as Beechwood office is back then we're hoping to hear things from them.
DeleteThanks heaps for your time
