All internal doors and wardrobe doors have also been hung less their door knobs.

Week 15: Nearing Lock Up

Its been a busy week for us all so apology for this late update.
This week, not much has been made in the house.  Early this week we have learned that our SS Kurt is no longer overseeing our build but we were assigned a temporary Site Supervisor under Cameron until they allocate a new one for us (I am fervently hoping this will not stall our build - they were doing so well when we were with SS Kurt).
MrK will be meeting with our temp SS this week to raise some minor issues that we have seen while we were inside the house.

On a good note, with the arrival of our doors (main external door included) the inevitable is about to happen - lock out stage.  What is that I hear you say?
The lockup stage refers to the point in time where the builder is able to effectively 'lock up' the house. This is normally when all the windows and exterior doors are on (and typically, but not necessarily, the garage door - but we have that one installed since week 14). Reaching the lockup stage is a pretty significant milestone when you're building a house.
How exciting!

Our Denmark moulded doors are resting in the garage waiting to be installed in all the rooms (including the walk in pantry and the laundry door)...one of our upgrades to make this our special home

Can't wait for our external door to be painted red (excited much as I have never seen a red door in our estate except us)

The vanity is happily sitting in one of the kid's room ready to be installed

The moulded sink is happily sitting in the theatre room until it is needed

Hubby and I were given the chance by our SS to move the bricks in the front if we wish to keep it (as there are cases if bricks being pinched if we leave it where it was.  At the end of the day, this hunk of a guy moved over 800 bricks - the kids and I helped too (with 1000 pcs @ $1543 who would wish this dumped).  These bricks will be used as retaining walls at the back

Thanks for joining us today... hope for more updates soon.
See you in the next post :)

Week 14: Hello Garage Doors and Stone Benchtop

After our tile appointment today, we passed by the house and we were pleasantly surprised at what we saw .... what, we have garage doors already????
And when we went inside, we were again gobsmacked that our stone benchtop was already installed ... I think our tradies are wearing skates, as they are just flying when it comes to our build and we are sooo happy indeed. Have a look at what we've got today.

Hello Monument coloured garage doors in slimline profile ... looove it

We've got a garage doors already?

The garage door from the inside

Oh what, our Tornado Quantum Quarts stone benchtop is already installed?

So glad we've upgraded to a stone benchtop

This benchtop will be the place for many meals or bread or cake making

Quantum Quarts Tornado - a dark grey shade that we want.

Hello double bowl sink ...

Quantum Quarts Tornado - a dark grey shade that we want.

Can't wait to cook and prep our food in here

With an open plan living, I'm in the thick of the action even if I'm cooking or prepping or baking and I love the view from that large sliding door.

That's it for now... just so happy with this week's new updates inside the house.  Thank you for visiting us and see you in the next update.

Tiles Appointment

Our much awaited appointment happened today.  Our tiles appointment.
The last appointment that we needed to finish the house which is also one of the most stressful one.  Not the whole experience (as Amanda - our tiles consultant from Beaumont Tiles in Wetherill Park was just a gorgeous gal) ... but the thought that whatever we selected today will forever be part of our home (unless we decided to change it - which is a very expensive change I reckon).
We have visited the tile shop many times but the more we visit it the more we change our choices and the more we get confused ... but today its final and we have signed it so no turning back (we do have 5 days to ponder about it though lol)

With our painted board of Shale Grey and Crisp White skirting, we placed it next to the range that we want for our overall floor... The Heartwood Range - a big 300x600 with a timber look and texture)

with the Heartwood Blonde (MrK didn't like it - but I did, as I find that it emits this warmth overall)
with the Heartwood Eucalypt (the one that we both agreed on so this will be our overall floor - it brightens the whole area)

with the Heartwood Walnut (which we originally liked but after we placed the painted boards, it got scrapped as it was too dark for the area)

Main bathroom: Valencia Stone White floor then Euphoria Charcoal wall with Mosaic Glass Cora Cream Grey Mix

Close up of the Valencia Stone White

Ensuite: Belga Charcoal floor then Valencia Stone White Gloss wall with Mosaic Glass Cora Cream Grey Mix (yes we just flipped the main and the ensuite - easy)

Patio/front porch: Belga Charcoal.

Close up of our decorative strip in the shower:  Mosaic Glass Cora Cream Grey Mix
Kitchen backsplash:  Valencia Stone Grey Gloss laid horizontally with Magellan Grey Grout (which we paid extra for, so it creates an illusion of seamless tiles) The photo does not show justice to the nice veining of this tile which is almost the same shade as our stone benchtop - you can tell we did not put any contrast.

Close up of our splashback Valencia Stone Grey Gloss -- we love the veins in this tile that creates sort of a natural stone effect
Laundry: Heartwood White floor (but just in case this is not allowed due to its size our alternative is this Belga Charcoal) with Classic Carrara White walls which mimics a marble effect
Hoping that they all come together nicely ...
Thanks for dropping by and see you in our next post

Window Furnishings Finalised

In keeping with the task of doing heaps of things for today, we also finalised our window furnishings with Cobbittyblinds  -  a local supplier who will supply us with our lovely plantation shutters, roller blinds and verticals for the new house.
With a free measure and installations, it should be a stress free experience especially knowing that we will definitely be busy with things.  Another task ticked off from the long list of things we need to do for the new house.

Elusive White is the nearest colour that they matched for our plantation shutters

The following are the roller blinds we selected. From top to bottom:
Vertical blinds for the sliding door, for the laundry, roller blind for the theatre room, grey roller blinds for all the three rooms.
I am still thinking if I should get the grey roller blinds for the kids' room or get it from this online blinds supplier doing our own measurements and installing it as well.
For a window measuring 1550 (w) by 1195 (h) for $158 - this is a steal.
